years ago , i was driving along hit a bump in the road , pop goes lh rear tyre , pull up , go to change it , oh shit wire was hanging out , check the other side , yup rh side the same.
never let my tyres get that bad again since.

the tire has a little camber and the outside of it is completely flat. Yes, there's now cords showing, but that can't be to far off.

it was trailered home, and pretty quickly had a brand new set of tires on its original wheels (which came with the car)
